A few laminate flooring myths put to rest

A lot of people get a bit dizzy when they are faced with the sheer number of materials available for their flooring project. With so many options with such varied attributes and applications, it can be more than a little difficult to keep it all straight for someone outside of the industry. This is always most obvious when people start asking questions.

A lot of times, these questions are hard to answer, because the question doesn't make sense in light of the facts as they are, not how they are understood by the person asking the question. This is to say, people have some serious misunderstandings about flooring. Today, we hope to clear up some of the confusion surrounding laminate flooring.

Here are the two biggest myths people believe about laminate that need to get cleared up:

Myth 1: Laminate only mimics wood

Most people hear about laminate flooring as an economical substitute for wood flooring, and fail to realize it is capable of so much more. Just about any flooring material out there can be recreated by laminate with striking accuracy, at a fraction of the price of the real deal. If you want the look of stone, no problem! Tile? No problem! It does it all!

Myth 2: Laminate is too new to be trusted

Many people who haven't heard of laminate until recently often make the mistake of thinking that it is a new product with a lot of bugs that need to be worked out before it is viable. This couldn't be further from the truth!

In fact, it has been in common use since the 1980's, and has seen some serious upgrades since then. Imaging and materials technology have given new life to the material over the decades, and manufacturers are constantly working to improve it even further.
