Everything you need to know about luxury vinyl flooring

If you’re getting ready to put new floors in your home, you are probably having a hard time sorting through all of the materials on the market. Even small flooring stores have a dizzying array of materials to choose from, all with different pros, cons, and quirks. For the average person outside of the flooring industry, it can all be a bit much.

Well, today we'd like to continue our efforts to make choosing your flooring as easy as possible, by shining a spotlight on yet another flooring material. Today, we are going to talk about luxury vinyl flooring, and what makes it worth your consideration. Here's the lowdown on what makes it so great!

It's waterproof

A lot of people like the way that hardwood flooring looks, but are afraid to install it in rooms like the bathroom or kitchen, where there is a very real risk of water damage. Luxury vinyl flooring, however, is able to perfectly mimic the look of real hardwood, and because it's waterproof, you won't have to worry about the warping, cupping, and swelling you would get with a wood floor in the same room.

It's the best of both worlds and the best part is, the floors look so much like actual wood, that even a professional eye has trouble telling the two apart!

It's extremely durable

Luxury vinyl flooring is treated with an insanely durable wear layer that protects it from the damage of even the most intense foot-traffic. This material was specifically designed with commercial applications in mind, so durability was job one when it was created. Since then, materials science has come a long way, and the wear layers applied today are practically impervious to all but the most severe damage.

It's an affordable alternative

In addition to being a perfect replacement for wood in rooms where wood isn't viable, luxury vinyl flooring is also an excellent alternative to wood in homes with a tight budget. The initial investment of a hardwood floor can be a bit steep for some homes, but that shouldn't mean you can't have the look you want!
